See the exchange rate your register is actually using
The Register screen now shows the exchange rate the session is really using, and flags it in amber when it is out of date. And if today's rate never arrived, you can now open the register by entering it by hand.
If you take dollars, every payment is converted to colones at some exchange rate. Until now, there was no way to see which one from the register.
- The opening details now show one line per currency, with the rate the session is applying and where it came from: BCCR, manual (register) or manual (admin).
- If it is today’s rate, the chip is green. If it is from an earlier day or missing, it turns amber with the date.
- If you only work in colones, nothing shows up.
This matters more than it sounds: the register always takes the most recent rate available, so a session could spend the whole day converting dollars at yesterday’s rate with nothing looking odd on screen. The cashier is the only person positioned to notice, and now has something to notice it with.
The register also stops getting stuck. When today’s rate had not arrived — after an overnight internet outage, say — the open button was dead and there was no way out from the app. Now you get a field to enter the rate by hand, prefilled with the last known value for reference, plus a button to retry the BCCR lookup.
